Issue 2 - Under a Hong Kong Moon—Chronicles of the Unseen

Becky Tsui
trans. Hannah Shum

The setting sun glides above us,
scattering its secrets all around,
holding together the mortals.

His sight and her vision
pierces through their fates.
Frigid air scratches the night,
the moon fiddling with her face,
looking towards the strangers.

Their minds are awakened by serenity,
while their souls are chastised by fate.

His round cheeks rippling like the dam nearby,
her lips shut in the ice slips of despair.
Speechlessness burdens their limbs.

Two pairs of hands, freezing,
burdened with what their skin cannot bear.
Their fingertips compelled to readjust their breaths.
Ruthlessness, after all, swallows desire.

Suddenly, the moon is smeared by rains or tears
for the moon waxes and wanes like our fate.

Hours, minutes, seconds revolve.
Is that how destiny plays with us?
How she urges the moonlight to be true
to itself and yet no hearts can be saved—
the moon, not at least, reaching out?

All these, refracting the far side of the moon,
however, surely, nourishing the birth of stars,
and relentlessly, giving nature a kind heart.

內心卻建築了充滿傷疤的圍牆;

Becky Tsui considers herself a rather boring person, spending her free time reading the news and books. She enjoys running and occasionally writing poems to keep her creative juices flowing. Her goal at this

Hannah Shum values gaining insights from books and conversations with friends. For her, refreshing and recharging comes from tranquil hikes or picturesque vacations. As she strives to become a congruent soul carer, she is learning to find peace with her own pace rather than constantly pushing herself.
