Issue 2 - Under a Hong Kong Moon—Chronicles of the Unseen

Joseph von Eichendorff
trans. Stephen Li

As if, the sky
Kissed the soil lightly,
The soil is going to make the sky inscribed
Into the dreams of flower lights.

The wind blows through the fields,
The wheat ears sway softly,
The rustling of the woods,
The starry night is bright and clear.

My soul
Stretches two wings,
Flying over the peaceful soil,
As if going to my hometown.

Mondnacht
Joseph von Eichendorff

Es war, als hätt’ der Himmel
Die Erde still geküßt,
Daß sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müßt’.

Die Luft ging durch die Felder,
Die Ähren wogten sacht,
Es rauschten leis’ die Wälder,
So sternklar war die Nacht.

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus,
Flog durch die stillen Lande,
Als flöge sie nach Haus
